Mount Baldy Ski Resort (90 minute drive south of Penticton)

Mount Baldy is located in the south Okanagan Valley - approximately 76 kilometres or a 90 minute drive from Penticton - giving skiers and snowboarders easy access to some of the best powder snow in the valley. The ski slopes are located on both the southeast face of Mount Baldy and the west face of Mount McKinney. The present ski area has 2 lifts - the Eagle Chair (double) and the McKinney T-Bar. The Eagle Chair services 1500 feet of vertical terrain and the McKinney T-Bar provides 600 vertical feet of sliding. In total there are 34 ski trails on Mount Baldy. Located at the bottom of the mountain is a 600 square metre Day Lodge which contains a ski ticket office, rental shop, ski school office, cafeteria, and lounge.

In addition to the wonderful snow quality and quantity, Mount Baldy gives skiers and snowboarders the additional benefit of no line-ups at their lifts. Being a small and lesser-know ski resort, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the powder snow all day long without ever having to wait in line.

The ski and snowboard season on Mount Baldy runs from early December to late April, from Thursday through Monday 9:30am to 3:30pm. During the Christmas Break and during the Student Spring Break, Mount Baldy is open daily except for Christmas Day.

Mount Baldy is presently going through a major expansion. The new owners of the ski resort are planning to have 645 metres of lift service skiing. This will make Mount Baldy one of the largest ski resorts in the Okanagan Valley (compared to 610 metres at Apex, Penticton; 777 metres at Big White, Kelowna; 760 metres at Silver Star, Vernon).

Mount Baldy will have 13 ski lifts servicing over 150 ski trails. A 56 kilometre long Nordic trail network will also be built in addition to a Tube Park, a Mountain Spa/Park, and an 18-hole Golf Course. In sum Mount Baldy will be open for recreation all year round to attract skiers and snowboarders during the winter months and golfers and hikers in the warm, sunny months.
