Big White Ski Resort is just a
45 minute
drive from Kelowna with 118 runs of the famous Okanagan
"champagne powder snow." Big White averages 750
centimetres (24.5 feet) of snow per year and its facilities offer visitors
such attractions as 16
ski lifts, 5 Alpine Bowls, 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) of Nordic trails, an outdoor
skating rink, Spas, snowmobile trails, an Olympic Super Pipe, a tube course,
dog-sledding, horse sleighing, night skiing...something for
everyone!
The runs at
Big White provide nicely balanced sliding conditions
for every skier and snowboarder:
18% of the runs are for beginners, 54%
for intermediate level visitors, 22% for advanced skiers and
snowboarders,
6% for extreme skiers and snowboarders.
The vertical drop at the resort is 770 metres (2,550 feet) and the
longest ski run is 7.2 kilometres (4.5 miles). The total area of skiing
and snowboarding tops 1,147 hectares (2,765 acres), and total uphill
capacity reaches 28,000 skiers and snowboarders per hour. |
The ski and snowboard season at
Big White runs from around mid November to mid April,
everyday from 8:45am to 3:30pm. Tuesday through Saturday night offers night skiing from
5:00pm until 9:00pm (times may vary during the season).

Big
White offers a wide range of accommodation for visitors:
3 Village Hotels,
25 Condo/Town Home Complexes,
244 Vacation Home and Luxury Cabins,
1 Ski-in/Ski-out Youth Hostel.
The are also a full range of facilities from cafeterias to fine
dining. There are a total of 18 restaurants, cafes and delis,
which includes 8 lounges and bars.
Big White hosts a wide range of activities and events
throughout the winter such as live entertainment, playing hockey,
skating, tubing, sleigh riding, and of course skiing and
snowboarding. There are 4 levels of well-groomed ski runs, Alpine Bowls,
as well as the world famous "Snow Ghosts" (trees covered with snow
and ice) which provide some unique and spectacular scenery. Guests can ski to their
doorstep when staying at Big White or walk
through the Village shopping and dining in world class restaurants
and pubs. Big White is well-known for its
family-oriented atmosphere and activities, and with the opening of
the international runway in Kelowna this resort openly welcomes
vacationers from countries around the world.
