Nickel Plate Nordic Centre (45 minute drive from Penticton)

Nickel Plate Nordic Centre is located 6 kilometres beyond Apex Mountain Resort, and it is a complex of endless cross country ski trails high amidst the gorgeous surroundings of the Okanagan Valley. Nickel Plate has over 65 kilometres of well-groomed trails for both classic and ski skating, 25 kilometres of marked snowshoe trails, and 20 kilometres of backcountry forest trails. Situated at a 1,830 metre elevation, Nickel Plate has the longest cross country ski season in Canada.

With plenty of powder snow and well groomed trails, Nickel Plate is the perfect place for both beginners and advanced skiers to experience the great Canadian wilderness. There are a wide variety of trails offering visitors gorgeous views and quick escape to the deep silence of the surrounding forests. The trail system consists of 70% easy trails, 20% intermediate trails, and 10% difficult trails offering something for everyone.

Nickel Plate offers visitors a large lodge with kitchen, lounge, washroom, and shower facilities. Rental equipment and private or group lessons are also available. Day passes are priced as follows: adults ($14), youth - 13 to 18 years ($10), junior - 6 to 12 years ($7), children under 6 years are free, and the snowshoe trail fee is $5. A variety of programs and lessons are also available to visitors.
